Reenactors Entry - Living History Displays

Artwork courtesy of Jack Norris

Jack quotes: "Last year, I took a great opportunity of a photo - the Vietnam reenactors had just finished their battle in the arena and were lining up to applause. They weren't standing neatly, as soldiers might, but they appeared as sterotypical Vietnam War soldiers!

I edited this image later with Photoshop CS2, and then painted the picture onto a canvas with acrylic and mixed media. You can contact Jack on [email protected]

Every year, many dedicated enthusiasts brush off their uniforms, dig out the camo netting and get on down to Beltring to recreate some classic scenes from the last 70 years of worldwide warfare. You will find a selection of photos below - if you are a living history enthusiast and come regularly to the show, please do send us your photos and we will put them up on the War and Peace Show photos section of this site. If you've never been to the show and are thinking about joining us for the War and Peace Show, you might like to know that ATTENDING AND CAMPING FOR THE WHOLE FIVE DAYS ARE FREE TO PRE-BOOKED LIVING HISTORY GROUPS!! Please contact us for more details.. alternatively, fill out and send off the reenactors booking in form...

There are NO ADMISSION, OR CAMPING CHARGES for members of pre booked living history displays. We appreciate the costs and effort incurred by some groups in putting together displays and in striving to achieve the remarkable degree of authenticity which has been evident at past shows. Our exit polls and public surveys tell us that, for many, they provide great interest and enjoyment to visitors to the show.

HOWEVER, so as to separate genuine living history re-enactors and display organisers, who have put so much time and effort into providing something for the public to admire and learn from, from visitors to the show, we must ask that if you are a living history re-enactor, PLEASE BOOK IN ADVANCE. The living history area fills up quickly and we must have your booking in advance of the show, otherwise we cannot guarantee you space to display. If you are a member of a group already booked in, we ask that you ask your group coordinator to contact us to confirm that you are a member of that re-enactment group. Many thanks in advance for your cooperation!

We have made more space available for living history and have pledged to avoid the problems of the past - there will definitely be NO bouncy castles in view, civilian vehicles will be ejected from the display areas while the show is open, and groups will be sited away from dusty access roads wherever possible.

Some of the displays from previous years...

A Vietnam display, with GIs in full kit... these chaps have been responsible for a big and rather spectacular event in the arena.

The Second Battle Group are almost entirely responsible for representing the Axis forces at the War and Peace Show, and without them, many battles would not be possible!.

Chris and Mark Burley have been coming to Beltring since 1988, he said this in 2002 -

"I will be attending as usual with my diorama entitled U.S RANGERS IN NORMANDY 1944. which includes 6 fully equipped mannequins, a fully restored 1942 Ford jeep and a ground display of weapons and equipment. This was featured in WHEELS AND TRACKS MAGAZINE. My brother and I have been regularly attending your show since 1988 and think it gets BIGGER and better every year!"

If you are coming to the Show as a living history re-enactor, and you have photos, do send them to our team and we will be pleased to put them on the site for you! We look forward to hearing from you!
