Welcome to the March issue of the Beltring Bugle
The official newsletter of
The KM IMPS War and Peace Show - July 16th-20th 2003

At long last the War and Peace organisers have found a willing volunteer to liase with all the Living History groups prior to and during the show accepting the responsibility of Living History Marshall, Greg Cottee of Normandy '44 was recruited with the support of his group whilst attending Stoneleigh Militaria 2003. Greg is looking forward to the challenge and will be contacting group leaders to discuss the ongoing changes at this War and Peace show and as to how best he can serve their needs if you have not as yet been contacted Greg would welcome your call on 07952020048.

In conjunction with Rex Cadman and Barbara Dixon Greg has arranged an on site meeting for all the Living History groups for Sunday May 11th at 10.30am where he looks forward to greeting you all in person.

Since our last Beltring Bugle The KM War and Peace team travelled to Stoneleigh for the opening show of the seasons. This highly successful event organised by Roy Elvis found The War and Peace team busily meeting and greeting exhibitors and traders alike so successful was our outing to Stoneleigh that by the time we returned home Barbara Dixon had successfully sold so many stalls that we are now down to our last five rows. Many of the vehicle owners that attended this show took the opportunity to stop at The KM War and Peace stand to book in their vehicles and obtain clarification on various points most issues appeared to be a misunderstanding of the booking in form whilst reading this should you have any queries in respect of your entry please do not hesitate to contact us at The KM war and peace office 01304 813945.

The next outing for The KM War and Peace promotional stand is at the Military Convention in Malvern on March 16th and then its off to Trucks and Tracks in Folkestone on March 22nd and 23rd, why not stop by for a chat and find out all the latest on The KM War and Peace Show 2003. For information about Malvern show contact 0870 2404691 or visit the website www.militaryconvention.com.

You may remember last year that we had totally sold out of tickets for the ever popular Miller Night therefore due to the huge success of last years Miller Night we have organised two Miller Nights Friday 18th and Saturday 19th tickets are £20 each and to book early to avoid disappointment telephone 01622 872068. Tickets for Saturday night are already going fast.

As The KM War and Peace Show fast approaches we are constantly hearing rumours of exhibitors working evenings and weekends preparing their vehicle for The KM War and Peace Show, The War and Peace Collection workshops are no different the Chevrolet T17E armoured car purchased in an unrestored condition from the Budge Collection some years ago has finally found its way into the workshops striped to nothing but a bear hull the team are working hard to have this vehicle on display at this years show if you are working on an interesting project for the 2003 show we would love to hear about it.

Health and Safety, by now we are sure some of you may look on the show as the HS War and Peace Show due to the constant barrage of publicity surrounding the expected changes this will make. On March the 6th we are having our first War and Peace marshals meeting having identified all the various areas that needed a key person to represent them we set about contacting all of those people who had intimated to us they would be willing to take on a responsibility for an area, we are glad to inform you that all those contacted so far have been more than willing to attend this first meeting and over the next few months we will be able to advise you as to who these people are and what role they will be fulfilling. There are three areas left that need a marshal and if you think that this is a role that you may be able to carry out then please contact us to discuss further.

Due to the close proximity of France, HM Customs and Excise have advised that we should inform participants of the show of the following regulations.
"No Exhibitor/Stallholder is permitted to sell excise goods (Beer, Cider, Wine, Spirits or Tobacco products) at any time on the Hop Farm site."
"Selling or handling alcohol and tobacco in which UK taxes have not been paid is a criminal offence and anyone caught doing this could be prosecuted and may receive up to seven years in prison."
"Customs and Excise patrol our events and anyone caught selling or dealing in excise goods on which UK taxes have not been paid, will have the goods seized. Any vehicle used for the carriage of excise goods will also be seized.". So bear this in mind and do not have your entire collection of unopened commemorative bottles of wine confiscated as did one unlucky stall holder last year.
