Welcome to the June issue of the BELTRING BUGLE - the official newsletter of the KM, IMPS War and Peace Show July 17th - 21st 2002
Miller Magic in The Herb Miller Marquee is the place to be on Saturday night. If this is not for you, you had better take part in OPERATION BEACH TOWEL in GINGERS BAR. No expense has been spared to create the right atmosphere. Tons of freshly dug sand has been shipped all the way from the Normandy beaches for you to either stretch out or pass out. BEWARE! This is a beach party so come dressed prepared to get wet, both inside and out! It's up to you to use your imagination and wear whatever you think is appropriate, anything from Prudish to Nudist!!
Fuel on site. Chapter Oils will be on site with a tanker to dispense fuel from 08:00 hrs on Wednesday until Saturday. They will be touring the site each morning.
At time of going to print we are over 200 vehicles up on this time last year. There will be more Sherman tanks there this year than ever before. The Champ Camp and Ferrets @ 50 entries are both coming in fast although at the moment the Champs are slightly ahead with 54 entries, the Ferrets considering their late start are doing well with 29. Both these groups have prototype vehicles amongst them. We even have 3 Dingo's a Mk1, a Mk2 and a Mk3
Trophies. We have asked the IMPS club historian Ian West for a brief history on the following trophies. The Dickie Dover Trophy, The Buster Smith Trophy, The Paul Sutton Trophy, The Ray Ireland Trophy, The Tracklink Award, The A.C. Miles Award and The Fighting Rover Trophy. Ian has replied in brief but we still need help. What can you tell us about these people. Who were they? And what did they contribute to the club and hobby that trophies were then named after them. Your help with this information would be very much appreciated. Replies to the War and Peace office.
Chatham Navy Days was well attended by the public over the Jubilee Bank Holiday who were a little surprised to see "Blue Armour" but the twosome did their job and drew the crowds so that we could spread the word. "Beltring". The Following weekend they attended The National Military Vehicle Trust (MVT) Show at Thruxton, Hants. War and Peace sponsored the Tracked & Armoured Trophy which was presented by Barbara Dixon. The vehicles will actually be working on their own home turf using every opportunity to promote War and Peace at The British Motorcyclists Federation Garden of England Show at The Hop Farm on 15th & 16th June

The Bart Vanderveen nominations have all been counted and an outright winner has been named, though not to him or publicly. This will be done at 3 p.m. on Saturday in the main arena. We would on behalf of After The Battle like to thank those of you that took the time to vote. Don't forget to drop your nominations in for next years recipient.
The Women's Land Army are to be stationed at The Hop Farm during The War and Peace Show as part of our "1942 Hop Farm". The WLA re enactors are undoubtedly the best in their field and have paraded before HRH The Queen Mother for her 100th birthday. There will be original WLA members visiting. One that was actually working at The Hop Farm during the war still lives in Beltring and looks forward to inspecting our "Soil Cinderella's".
As this is the penultimate Bugle before the show, we would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone, no matter how small their contribution, they have all helped to make War and Peace the grand internationally renowned show that it is.
