In 1994
a group of North London friends, all interested in anything
ex-military, decied to have a group name for a means of recognition
at shows etc. The North London Barmy Army was formed. Originally
only a handful of members were involved, but word spread of
the fun we had and our numbers grew. Membership now stands
at about 80, with 54 vehicles between us. Vehicles are as
varied as Motorcycles, Jeeps, Abbots, Chieftans and even an
ex SAS Gazelle helicopter. The majority of our vehicles are
used on the road and driven to events, usually in convoy.
We tend
to attend the unusual shows, like The International Model
Engineers Exhibition, where we supplied 8 vehicles to be parked
inside Olympia, London. The Royal Hospital, Chelsea, where
we visit the Pensioners, and share a lunch with them and various
other local community events, carnivals etc.
We also
like to party, so you'll find us in the Ginger
Gammon Bar.
As you can see from the picture, if theres a theme night we'll
join in.
Recently
we have abbreviated our name to "The NLBA" as there
is a group with a similar name attending Beltring and they
had been there longer. If you have any questions please do
not hesitate to contact us via our illustrious leader Paul "Carts" Cartwright.
To show you what a sense of humour he has, he's let us publish
his holiday photo.

We attend
Beltring en masse having probably one of the largest vehicle
display frontages on site. We assist, by manning the Ramagen
Bridge, which is where vehicle movement ceases and pedestrianisation
begins. Other duties on site include removing parked vehicles
causing obstruction and generally helping where ever Rex sends
us.
