Steve Shirly's team from the Manston Fire Museum entertained the crowds later by exploding a car and setting it alight, in order to demonstrate how their fire crew deal with aircraft fires. They also kindly provided us with on site emergency fire crew support throughout the show.
The arena events were spectacular on the Friday; plenty of enthusiasts turned out to re-enact "Saving Ryan's Privates"
All the arena re-enactments were choreographed by Jim Dowdall, who has been the stunt coordinator for various well known films, from the "Indiana Jones" movies to "Saving Private Ryan" and "Captain Corelli's Mandolin". Jim really knows his stuff; he should do, having been the person who was actually driving the tank in that amazing scene in the "Goldeneye" James Bond movie...! Friday was a good day for strolling around the 300 acre site, trying to take in some of the 3267 military vehicles that had come from all over the world to take part...
