20 Unbelievable facts that you never knew about the 2000 War and Peace Show

1. We drank 602 barrels of beer. That's 52978 pints! The majority of which were consumed in Ginger's Bar...

2. We also consumed 40 tonnes of bottled beer and 22 tonnes of spirits!

3 . Not to be out done by the alcoholics, the abstainers consumed 80 palettes of bottled water and soft drinks, and at 2,400 per palette that is an incredible 192,000 units!

4. Did you know that if you had the time to walk around the show there were 14 places to stop and have a drink with your friends?

5. Food at the Herb Miller night: We ate 1000 lbs of beef stew which took 4 chefs to prepare!

6. The last food outlet to shut each night was The Thai Food stall, which sold over 2 tonnes of rice!

7. On the subject of food, we ate 15 tonnes of burgers and a 40 ft artic full of buns, supported by 3 tonnes of onions.

8. If you laid all the sausages end to end that were eaten at the show, they would reach Tonbridge, 7 miles away!

9. Did you know that we cleared over 150 tonnes of rubbish over the 5 days using 5,000 black sacks?

10. It took 25 men 5 days to pick up all the litter around the site after the show!

11. The local milkman supplied over 10,000 pints of milk over the 5 days of which only 122 bottles were not returned.

12. Fuel: 3082 vehicles attended what was undoubtedly the world's largest military vehicle event. To achieve this, it is estimated that over 75,000 gallons of fuel was needed at a cost of over £300,000.

13. Over 300 traders were on site using in excess of over 1,000 stall spaces, totalling over 400,000 sq.ft. equivalent to a 10 acre paddock. The largest single stall was Second Hand Independent Traders at over half an acre.

14. The advertisements were true. The stalls sold anything from shirt buttons to a Chieftain tank and one local man bought his Mark 10 Chieftain at this years show!

15. With the new pipeline we used over 200,000 gallons of water, supplying 20 showers, 60 toilets and 50 hand basins, not counting drinking water and usage by catering. Unfortunately we also created so much sewerage that we blew up the pumps that handled this side of the operation. To repair this a specialist diver was required to descend into the pit and remove the pumps. Any volunteers for next year?

16. Over 12,500 people camped on site during the five days of the show, which was also visited by a further 80,000 people. Were you one of them?

17. Did you know that one lady visitor took 9 tank rides during her visit to the show. Is this a record?

18. Now here really is an interesting fact.........we used a total of 150 toilets, consuming an average of 12 toilet rolls per day per loo That's 1800 loo rolls per day which equalled 9,000 loo rolls over the duration of the show. This equates to a staggering 2,880,000 sheets of loo paper. How many trees would that be?

19. Did you know that to date, no-one has got married or had a baby at War and Peace. But, 69 loving relationships have been formed that are still going.
